When I was planning my trip to Lake Garda, I was looking for an easy place to reach from Milan and a central point convenient for exploring the area. Desenzano is the perfect spot. It is only 1hr train ride from Milan. Yes, this cute little village has a train station. How convenient!!! From there, you can reach by boat the other beautiful villages around the lake. I think the best time to visit Lake Garda is spring. I was there in May. As soon as I stepped out of the train station, I was “hit” by a heavenly fragrance of jasmine. Later on, walking around the village, I discovered walls of this amazing white flowers cascading down from houses, churches and stores. This will be one of my best memory of this trip, never to forget. What did I do in Desenzano? I strolled along the cobblestone pedestrian streets facing the lake with a delicious gelato in my hand. Then I dedicated some time to shopping while waiting for the restaurants to open. After a delicious dinner, I strolled back to my Airbnb enjoying the jasmine fragrance as it was at maximum potency at night. The following days I was able to take the ferry boat to visit the other gems around the magnificent Lake Garda. Each village is different with a distinctive personality. Desenzano is the perfect place for a relaxing or an adventurous vacation, you decide….
