Abruzzo is a region in central Italy. Its territory is almost completely mountainous, half of it is protected through National Parks or Nature Reserves. It is really off the beaten path and this is its beauty. Yes, it is remote and difficult to reach, but you will be rewarded with untouched nature. I went there to join a volunteer camp and I had the best time of my life. The volunteers have the important task to keep villages alive, clean paths, help the sparce population to feel less remote.
